  1. Hi Christine,

Thank you for sharing the South Coast Today article; it was very informative!

Wind power being a clean and renewable energy source that can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which is a major contributor to climate change, there is hope to we can mitigate some of the environmental damage we have caused. The examples the South Coast Today article provided show the specific emissions reductions that can be achieved by different wind projects. The Vineyard Wind 1 project, for example, is projected to eliminate 1.68 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year, which is equivalent to taking 325,000 cars off the road. And the Commonwealth Wind and Park City Wind projects are expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2.35 million tons and 1.59 million tons annually respectively, which is equivalent to taking thousands of cars off the road. That is very exciting and promising.

Bristol Community College has partnered with Maersk Training to bring basic safety training and basic technical training programs certified by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). This is great news to our area both in the industry and to the professionals the program train.

Here is a link to read more about this partnership.

    1. Rose – thanks for the additional resource! I’m sure we’ll be learning and hearing a lot more about offshore wind energy, especially due to our geographic location.
